A little bit of Paradis

The Soul of a Poet

Nature’s Force

A
seagull
eyes the waves,
flapping it’s wings
into the strong wind,
while on the horizon
nature rears it’s ugly head.
A hurricane is coming soon,
men busy themselves boarding windows,
while women gather supplies – life goes on.

A Squirrel

So
my muse
and I sat
at a table
on the veranda
constructing sweet sonnets.
Words flowing like waterfalls,
the life-force of a poet’s soul-
and from the safety of an oak tree,
a squirrel cocked it’s head watching me write.

Time

Home -
dusk falls
in the hall.
The fading light
echoes the quiet
yet can’t mask the ticking
of the mahogany clock.
In a little more than a hundred years
a beautifully preserved grandfather
has seen the birth of three generations.
